hen care
Thank you to Steph and kids for taking such great care of our hens this summer. I am hoping she will add her own commentary and pictures to this blog. The hens have accepted them into their flock. It is wonderful to be able to go away and know that our ladies are happy and thriving and still laying eggs. I miss their funny little personalities and look forward to seeing them strut across the yard each morning. I don't miss the mess and care, though.
Soon enough we will be eating fresh eggs again.
XO to Steph, Jacque and Ari.

Chicken Harmony
Well, the chickens are living harmoniously together. At least this is what we are observing when we are outside in the yard with them. The "ousted" one still lays alone, but otherwise she is out and about with the rest of them.
Spring has sprung and they spend their days eating the green grass peeking through winter's dead blades and sunning themselves on our deck. This means lots of chicken poop to wash off, which I dislike, but witness them sunning themselves is quite enjoyable.
We are currently getting 7 eggs a day, which is hard to keep up with, so we give some away and the kids are concocting a plan to start a homegrown egg business at the end of our driveway.
